The Stockholm Lemondrop Martini

2 oz. Batch 22 Classic Gold aquavit

The Batch Happy Mule
One of our most popular cocktails, the Batch Happy Mule substitutes our Classic Gold aquavit for the traditional vodka. Light and refreshing, this is a drink that never gets old.

Top with ginger beer
Gently stir ingredients and garnish with a lime wedge.

The Belmont
The Belmont cocktail is one of the first aquavit cocktail recipes we ever created, and it's named for the street it was created on (one of our founders lives there). The sheer deliciousness of rosemary, grapefruit, and Batch 22 together was a revelation to us.
2 oz. Batch 22 Classic Gold aquavit
.25 oz. Rosemary syrup
1 oz. fresh-squeezed grapefruit juice
1 tbs. brown sugar simple syrup
1-3 Dashes Rosemary bitters
Club soda
Combine ingredients (except soda) over ice in a highball glass. Top with soda and stir gently.
NOTE: You can substitute Fever Tree Grapefruit Soda for the grapefruit juice, simple syrup, and club soda.

The bloody viking
A classic centerpiece of most American brunch menus, our aquavit Bloody Mary was the very first aquavit cocktail recipe we ever created. It proved to us that-when used instead of vodka-Batch 22 makes every drink taste better. There are lots of ingredients in this one, so we crafted the recipe to serve 4 at a time.
2.5 cups tomato juice
1/2 cup clam juice
3 tbs lime juice
1.5 tbs prepared horseradish
1.5 tbs Worcestershire sauce
1/4 tsp garlic powder
1.25 tsp hot sauce of choice
1 tsp coarse black pepper
1/2 cup pepperoncini juice
1 dash of celery bitters
8 oz. Batch 22 Classic Gold aquavit
Mix all ingredients in a large glass pitcher and serve in your favorite stein. Garnish with celery stalk, pepperoncini, and a strip of bacon.
Serves 4.

Aurora Borealis Cocktail
Almost any drink gets more festive when you add sparkling wine, and this pool party-friendly, brunch-perfect aquavit grapefruit cocktail turns any gathering into a celebration.
1.5 oz. Batch 22 Classic Gold aquavit
2 oz. fresh-squeezed grapefruit juice
3 tbsp. brown sugar simple syrup
2 tsp. fresh lime juice

The Batchroni
(Created by Chris Williams, Bayou Bar, New Orleans, LA)
This tantalizing twist on the classic Negroni cocktail was actually created in the dark! We introduced Batch 22 to bartender Chris Williams at his bar in New Orleans in the middle of a huge storm. He tasted it, loved it, and started creating cocktails with it and then a blackout hit. It was this delicious cocktail that kept us happy until the lights came back on.
Shake over ice:
1 oz. Batch 22 Classic Gold aquavit
1 oz. sweet vermouth
1 oz. Campari
Strain into rocks glass with one large cube.
Garnish with orange wheel.
Serves 1
Tart Cherry Cocktail
In all our recipe development work, we found that cherries and Batch 22 Classic Gold aquavit play very well together and we wanted to craft a cocktail that would satisfy the cherry lover. Not too sweet, this drink has layers of flavor and just a touch of fizz.
Shake over ice:
2 oz. Batch 22 Classic Gold aquavit
2 oz. tart cherry juice
1 tbsp. fresh lime juice
1 tbsp. brown sugar simple syrup
Strain into a coupe glass and add:
1 tbsp. ginger beer
1/4 cup tonic
Morello cherries in syrup for garnish

Spicy Mexican Mule
Our aquavit mule is a unique variation of the classic Moscow Mule. The infusions are simple to make and don't worry about making the jalapeño too spicy. You can always dilute it to your liking with more Batch 22.
Make the jalapeño infusion:
Thick slice one medium jalapeño (with seeds) and steep in 1/2 cup of Batch 22 Classic Gold aquavit for minimum 2 hours. Strain before use.
Make the cucumber infusion:
Peel half a medium cucumber, slice in half, then slice thin into pieces. Steep in 1 cup Batch 22 for minimum 2 hours. Strain before use.
For the Mule:
1 1/2 oz. jalapeño-infused Batch 22 aquavit
1/2 oz. cucumber-infused Batch 22 aquavit
3/4 oz. fresh lime juice
2 tbsp. brown sugar simple syrup
Lime seltzer
Combine all ingredients (except seltzer) in a mule glass (or mug). Stir and add ice. Top with seltzer and stir gently.

Wedding Vow
During a recent R&D session, we fell in love with the beautiful aromas and flavors of Rose Cordial syrup, and we were surprised by how great it was when mixed with the aromas and taste of aquavit. Batch and roses? Add some sparkle and you've got a wedding (or anniversary!).
Shake over ice:
2 ozs. Batch 22 Classic Gold aquavit
1 oz. cherry juice
2 tbsp. Rose Cordial syrup
Pour into champagne flute
Top with Prosecco
Serves 1
Public Enemy
The three of us who founded the company are all big movie buffs, and we all agree that "Public Enemy," starring Jimmy Cagney, is an old (and yes, dated) classic gangster film. One of the movie's most memorable scenes involves a grapefruit, so we paid homage with the title of this crisp and refreshing cocktail.
2 ozs. Batch 22 Classic Gold aquavit
1 oz. Giffard Pamplemousse
Splash of soda
Garnish with singed grapefruit peel
Serves 1
Blanche
Batch 22 aquavit shares many of the herbal and floral qualities of other great mixers, like Suze and Lillet. We created this recipe to showcase the complexity you can enjoy when you combine all three elements and add some tonic to enhance their aromas.

1 oz. Lillet
1 oz. Suze
.5 oz. Rosemary syrup
.5 oz. Giffard Pampelmousse
Strain into large Martini glass
Add tonic to fill

1 oz. Bourbon
.5 oz fresh lime juice
.5 oz. Rosemary syrup

Cassis and Desist
Cassis is a wonderful mixer-a unique ingredient akin to blackberry or currant, but not quite as tart. It can be rather sweet, so you only need a small amount to add that extra dimension of juicy berry flavor to your Batch 22.
Shake over ice:
2 oz. Batch 22 Classic Gold aquavit
.5 oz. cassis
.5 oz. fresh lime juice
1 lime wheel, muddled
Strain into highball glass with ice
Top with soda

M22 (Batch 22 Manhattan)
We love our version of the classic Manhattan cocktail, which is not as sweet and offers more complexity of flavor. The M22 also happens to be a city bus that runs in the Lower East Side of Manhattan.

2 oz. Batch 22 Classic Gold aquavit
.5 oz. dry vermouth
.5 oz. sweet vermouth
Optional: teaspoon of cherry liquid or Luxardo's Sangue Morlacco
Strain into rocks glass with one large cube
Garnish with Luxardo cherry

Simply Citrus
Simple cocktail mixers can often be just as satisfying as more complex ones. The citrus components in Batch 22 aquavit marry so well with the botanicals and spices, that a simple topping of good quality bitter lemon is all you need to create a classic of your own.
In a rocks glass with ice:
2 oz. Batch 22 Classic Gold aquavit
Top with bitter lemon
Garnish with lemon slice
Serves 1
Batch Stingray
Lovers of New York style deli sandwiches may also be familiar with the famous Dr. Brown's line of sodas. One of our favorites is their celery flavored soda, which happens to work beautifully with the core components of Batch 22 aquavit.
In a Collins glass with ice:
2.5 oz. Batch 22 Classic Gold aquavit
Top with Dr. Brown's Cel-Ray soda
Garnish with celery leaves

Richard Edison
(Created by Richard Molero, Edison Food+Drink Lab, Tampa, FL)
When we drove sample bottles of Batch 22 aquavit across America in June of 2021, one of the best nights we had was in Tampa, Florida, at Edison Food + Drink Lab. This was one of them.

Welcome Batch Codder

Shake over ice:
2 oz. Batch 22 Classic Gold aquavit
2 oz. cranberry juice
Splash Rose's lime

The Rosinsky Method Martini
Our journey of bringing Batch 22 to the world has allowed us to meet people from all over the country and to make many new friends. The members of the Rosinsky family, in particular, have become some of our dearest friends and biggest fans. They also happen to own and operate Slo de Vie distillery, which makes a fantastic array of Aguardentes that play beautifully with Batch 22. This aquavit martini highlights the wonderful flavor of their Passion Fruit Brandy.
Shake over ice:
2 oz. Batch 22 Classic Gold aquavit
.75 oz. Slo de Vie Passion Fruit Aguardente
.75 oz. Amaro
2-4 dashes angostura bitters

The Batch Lebowski
Yes, the founders of Batch 22 love movies. And we love new cocktail names that reference movies. To make this version of the Dude's favorite drink, a White Russian, we originally used Batch 22 that was infused with espresso beans for 24 hours. That was delicious, but equally yummy was this simpler recipe, which uses Batch 22 Classic Gold and Kahlua mixed with half & half.[For your vegan friends, use coconut almond cream instead—it's delicious.]
Mix in a rocks glass with ice:
2 oz. Batch 22 Classic Gold aquavit
1 oz. Kahlua
1 oz. Half & Half (or cream)
Garnish with chocolate covered espresso bean
Serves 1
Terra Firma
(Created for Terra American Bistro, San Diego, CA)
Executive Chef and Owner Jeff Rossman is an old friend and a great chef. He was the first to ask about doing a special dinner menu designed to pair with Batch 22. Creating a signature cocktail for that menu was a lot of fun--it's an aquavit cocktail with a touch of bitterness, which makes it especially food friendly.
Shake over ice:
2 oz. Batch 22 Classic Gold aquavit
.5 oz. Campari
.75 oz. Elderflower Liqueur
Strain into a rocks glass with a muddled orange slice and 2 dashes of orange bitters
Garnish with orange slice
Serves 1
B&T
This riff on the classic G&T showcases perfectly just how much Batch 22 elevates a drink when subbed for vodka or gin. The addition of rosemary syrup and bitters, and the use of elderflower tonic, provides an extra-special alchemy of refreshing herbaceousness to this wonderful cocktail.
Mix in a rocks glass with ice:
2 oz. Batch 22 Classic Gold aquavit
.25 oz. Rosemary syrup
2-3 Dashes Rosemary bitters
Top with elderflower tonic
Garnish with rosemary sprig

2 oz. Batch 22 Classic Gold aquavit
.75 oz. Jameson's

Classic Dirty Batch Martini
Sometimes simple is best. And, if you're a simple martini lover, this aquavit cocktail recipe is sure to satisfy. It works well with just the olive bitters, but also shines with the addition of olive brine (we love the Olive Twist olives and juice from Tillen Farms), so make it as dirty as you like! Lots of folks also love splitting the vermouth evenly between dry and sweet, according to your taste.
Shake over ice:
3 oz. Batch 22 Classic Gold aquavit
.5 oz. Dry vermouth
.5 oz. Sweet vermouth
2-4 dashes, olive bitters
Olive brine to taste
Strain into a martini glass
Garnish with olives or a cornichon
Serves 1
Collins & Coupe
(Created for Collins & Coupe, San Diego, CA)
Our hands-down favorite cocktail accessories store in San Diego is owned and operated by our good friends at Collins & Coupe. When we taught our first cocktail class there, we made this drink, which was the brainchild of C&C's Logan and co-Founder Bruce, who fell in love with the olive bitters he found at the store.
Shake over ice:
1.5 oz. Batch 22 Classic Gold aquavit
.5 oz. Higher Vibrations Lemon+Lime shrub
.5 oz. Rosemary syrup
3-4 Dashes of Rosemary bitters
3-6 Dashes of Olive bitters
Strain into a Collins glass with ice and top with soda
Garnish with rosemary sprig and/or lemon peel twist
Serves 1
Fetch Me a Shrubbery
No cocktail recipe collection is complete without at least one Monty Python reference, right? We love the exotic and complex flavors you get from various kinds of shrubs (vinegar and fruit mixtures) because they add that special blend of sweet and tangy to any cocktail. This recipe highlights the beauty of a shrub syrup we found from Burly.
Mix in a rocks glass with ice:
2 oz. Batch 22 Classic Gold aquavit
1 oz. Burly Black Lime + Bay Leaf shrub syrup
Squeeze of fresh lime
4 oz. Soda
Garnish with a lime wheel.

Spiced Cider Toddy
Once our first holiday season came around in 2022, we set out to create a bunch of holiday-inspired cocktail recipes. Here, in this section, we highlight three of them. The Spiced Cider Toddy is about as simple as a recipe gets, but it's so satisfying and so easy to drink.
Warm 8 cups of Spiced Apple Cider in a pot (Trader Joe's Spiced Apple Cider is excellent, though many brands will work)
Pour warm cider into mugs and add to each mug:
2 oz. Batch 22 Classic Gold
Garnish with a cinnamon stick or a vanilla bean

Ebenezer Tea-zer
(Created for South Coast Repertory Theater)
When Batch 22 became the official spirit of South Coast Repertory Theater in Costa Mesa, California, we became responsible for developing specialty cocktails that would pair with each production. The first production was "A Christmas Carol" and this festive holiday tipple is what we came up with. It features one of the many delicious simple syrups made by our friends at Curious Juniper (curiousjuniper.com).
Mix in a rocks glass with ice:
2 oz. Batch 22 Classic Gold
1 oz. Cran + Orange simple syrup
2 oz. Earl Grey tea (brewed very strong)
Mix well and garnish with an orange peel twist

Cinnamon Hug
This cozy and comforting cocktail is sort of a winter variation on the classic White Russian, with a focus on the soothing flavors of cinnamon and chai.
Mix in a rocks glass with ice:
2 oz. Batch 22 Classic Gold
2 oz. Chai Tea (concentrated; we like Trader Joe’s)
.5 oz. Brown Sugar Cinnamon simple syrup (we like Curious Juniper's)
1 oz. Half & Half
